Seacast™ is formulated to bond to fiberglass. It will bond to small amounts of pre-existing wood that may remain after extraction, but the bond to fiberglass will be weakened and the remaining wood will continue to rot.
What is Seacast made from?
Seacast™ is a synthetic material made from a mix of proprietary ingredients and recycled fiberglass fibers. Seacast™ uses chopped reinforcement recycled fiberglass that provides superior tensile strength in comparison to ceramic spheres.
How long does Seacast take to cure?
Seacast™ will set in approximately 25-45 minutes. The hotter the temperature is the faster it will set. later at night. Seacast™ will take longer to cure if the temperature is below 76°F, heat lamps may be used to compensate for the lower ambient temperature.
How do you repair rotted wood in a fiberglass boat?
If however, you choose to use this method, we recommend the following procedure:
Drill a pattern of 3/16″ diameter holes over the rotted area. Dry the area thoroughly. Inject or pour resin/hardener mixture into the holes while the core is warm. Continue to add epoxy to the holes until the wood can no longer absorb more.
How do you reinforce a fiberglass boat transom?
Apply epoxy to the edges of the outer fiberglass skin of the transom and over the heads of the screws holding the skin to the plywood, and lay a strip of fiberglass cloth over the epoxy. Once the fiberglass has cured, repeat this step until four layers of fiberglass and epoxy have been applied.
How do I use Arjay 6011?
1. Once mixed, pour buckets of Arjay 6011 into transom cavity, allowing the material to self- level. Fill to the top and scrape flat across top of transom. Note: Pour the whole transom in one pour to eliminate “weld lines” or seams that will occur between a cured pour and fresh pour.
